Francis City "Hill Top Road Closure"

4/5/2007

Our signed petitions were hand delivered to the Summit County Bldg in Coalville this morning!!Even though we only needed about 170 names - we delivered an astonishing 345!! Do you think that sends a message to our Mayor and Council?

The town has spoken loud and clear. The 345 signatures represent a geographical cross-section of the entire town - not just Wild Willow as the Mayor continually contends. Such an overwhelming number of signatures was attributed to a surprising number of residents city-wide who were willing to sign without hesitation! The huge number of signatures reflect a general displeasure of the way this issue ,and many others, have been handled. Hopefully, we will now have time to investigate thoroughly a remedy to the problematic intersection. We don't believe that leaving the intersection open and closing a part of a road - as is the Mayor's plan - is the answer.

In addition, 41 Voters Registration Forms were submitted to the County Clerk: An added benefit of the signature drive. The town of Francis should be very, very proud.

I am very impressed at how we mobilized so quickly from scratch. The town has come together as a community; meeting new neighbors and sharing their concerns. Think of what we can do when the NEXT issue(s) come around! WATER? SEWER? ELECTIONS?

Great job everyone!
